Katie and Dan were married on a rainy day in April. The day started at home with a boatload of friends and family. The men watched the Cardinals opening day, Katie and her girls put on her dress in her old bedroom and Dan waited downstairs to see his bride. When it was time, she stood in the living room surrounded by the women in her family as they put the family veil – the same worn by so many other women in her family – and let it float around her shoulders.

Later I stood at the front of the church behind a pillar watching their faces as they were married. Watching the way Dan squeezed her fingers and she smiled at him out of the corner of her eye. The church was too full for me to even fit everyone into one frame and I felt lucky to be spending a day in the presence of so much love.

Katie and Dan, you are blessed

I’ve wanted to photograph these two beauties since they were born Their mama Melissa was my very first bride EVER. We went to college together and I would admittedly stalk her religiously on facebook, wishing fervently that I still lived in South Carolina so I could use her beautiful girls as models. Well, in September I got the chance during a short visit.

Melissa is the kind of mama that lets her kids be kids, and I love that it shows in these pictures. Her girls are so happy and it’s so fun to photograph happy kids in their element. If you can bear to part from the standard posed shots, I encourage you to go this route for family portraits. After all – no kid ever dresses themselves in matching outfit and they very rarely sit quietly for the camera. Why not remember them as they are?

ashly + scott – engagement at a christmas tree farm!

I think Ashly and Scott are gonna win the award for having dated the longest. This love story began way back in elementary when Scott made Ashly cry on picture day. In elementary school, I’m pretty sure that’s the equivalent of writing a sonnet in terms of expressing your feelings. You can tell these two have real, old love though – and they’re gonna make it official next year.

We headed out to a christmas tree farm in Lake St. Louis for some wintery pics! Scott proposed in December, so it was only fitting

I think it’s high time I introduced you all to someone!

So far he has his mama’s nose and (we think) his Daddy’s chin and smile. And he’ll be joining us in just two short months! I. Am So. Excited.

Of course that means there will be a few scheduling changes at Fenwick Photo in the coming weeks. Most notably, Fenwick Photography will be on maternity leave starting January 12th until 3 weeks after Baby arrives. As of right now, there is no more availability for shoots until that time. I will still be meeting with new clients and working on projects for existing clients, but I came to the conclusion (after struggling to roll myself out of bed recently and having my feet swell on a walk around the block) that it probably isn’t wise or fair to anyone to be taking pictures in the month leading up to this little guy’s arrival! Normal shooting will resume in late March/April.

Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions or concerns! And…be on the lookout for adorable baby pics in the next few months

Enjoy the sweet, genuine wedding of Erin and Jonathan on a gorgeous fall day…one of the prettiest I’ve seen in a lonnnnnng time. This wedding just made me want to give everyone a big hug…it exuded that much happiness. I think the feeling was mutual because I saw a lot of hugs being passed around

Jonathan’s mother passed away, so he and his sister had her wedding rings turned into earrings for Erin.

andrea + jason’s washington, missouri wedding

I love a wedding that is simply and honestly about two people who are nuts about each other. That’s Jason and Andrea in a nutshell. They were married on a beautiful fall day and all day I heard nothing but stories about how they’d met and fallen in love – and how that love had brought everyone around them together. You can tell it’s for real when absolutely everyone is excited. I walked into the church and it was buzzing with joy…packed completely full with people who couldn’t wait to watch Andrea and Jason tie the knot, and cheer them on.

We started at the salon, please note the smile plastered on Andrea’s face. It stayed put all day!

I could tell Katie and Dusty were a little nervous about having pictures taken when we met in St. Charles at the tail end of all the gorgeous fall days. Even nerves couldn’t cover up how happy they make each other, though….and you certainly can’t tell from these pictures that they had any thought in their heads save for how great they think one another is.
